Death of the Doughboy

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting most of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven ... He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Splash Zone!

This evening Brody and I went to Splash Zone to help celebrate our friend Dominick's 5th birthday! It is a pretty cool little place with a zero depth pool and lots of water sprinklers and slides. The pool does progressively get deeper and goes to about three feet. Brody got a little too big for his Elmo swim suit britches and had to be pulled out by a lifeguard and a helpful Dad who happened to be at that end of the pool. It was scary to say the least. The good news is that it seems Brody remembers some of what he was taught last year during his swim lessons. He did try to reach for the ledge and ended up rolling to his back to float. Poor kid...scared the crap out of both of us. We will definitely have to get the swim lady back out for some more lessons this summer. Happy Birthday Dominick! Thanks for having us at your party!

Prehistoric meltdown

This morning’s meltdown was due to a non-existent dinosaur shirt. Brody literally had crocodile tears flowing because he did not want to wear the shirt I was dressing him in. Instead, he wanted “dinosaur shirt.” He doesn’t have a dinosaur shirt people. Mind you, last weekend I purchased three shirts with elephants on them due to the request to wear “elephant shirt” almost every day and we only had one shirt with an elephant on it. What’s a mom to do! This morning we compromised with a Mickey Mouse shirt and I guess I’ll be on the hunt for some dinosaur shirts next time I am out and about!

Sleeping in the 21st Century and Eating Boogers

We finally got new bedroom furniture and have leapt on into the 21st century. Our former furniture was giant and bulky and very dated. We loved it when we got it almost ten years ago...but I have been wanting new furniture for a while now and finally just ordered it. They told us it would take 6-8 weeks...it took a week and a half! We still have lots to do to finish decorating ... need some lamps, attach the t/v to the wall, get some pictures on the wall, get a new ceiling fan...but it looks so much nicer already. Our room seems huge to us now without the furniture made for giants!

On a side note, Brody's new thing is to eat boogers. We are so proud. You ask him what he is chewing on when you know you didn't give him anything to eat like say a gummy bear, and he tells you point blank..."a booger." Nice...he is SO going to have a way with the ladies!!

Hello Baby Grant!

We went over to Merritt Island today to celebrate with Mr. Grant who was christened today at Divine Mercy. It was great to finally meet the little fellow and it was wonderful to see new parents Kimmy and Trey. Brody had a grand ol' time destroying Cooper's room. We forgot to clean up our mess before we left, so please accept our blogologies for the mess we made in "Pooper's" room.

Take notice of the silly picture with "Abbie" the cat. This cat has been sent to haunt Ann-Marie from our college days...sorry about your luck Ann-Marie, you never should have put poor Abbie out to fend for herself....you should have known it would come back to bite you in the arse.

We had a great time...it's always fun to hang out with our "other" family! They treat us all like we totally belong and are one of them! Thanks for that! Safe travels for all the folks returning home next week. See you all soon.

Maaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmaaaaaaaaa...

Maaaaammmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaa…..Maaaammmmmmmmaaaaaaaaa. That’s what I have been hearing in the wee hours of the night for the past few weeks. Not every night….but enough nights…trust me! The easy solution, and the solution I normally use, is to just change Brody’s diaper and go into the spare bedroom with him to finish off our night of sleep. I realize, however, that he has got to get out of this habit. It’s wearing me out. I’m no longer a young whipper-snapper and need my sleep! So around 2:00 a.m. this morning he starts with his bellowing … Maammmmmmmaaaaaa… want down … want down …. Maaaammmmmaaa. Last night I changed his diaper and just let him “cry it out.” This was partly done because the night before when I put him in the spare bed, he peed so I had to wash the sheets and didn’t get a chance to re-make up the bed….so the spare bed was not an option last night! UGH…it was torture listening to him. Not to beat Daddy up, but how in the world he sleeps though all of this is beyond me. Poor little guy wants his mama…even if it is 2:00 in the morning! We made it though. After about 30 minutes, he gave in and went back to sleep. Hopefully, we won’t have a repeat tonight because Maaaaammmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaa needs her sleep!!
On a side note, did any one see the Real World Award Show on MTV last night? It was a horrible show...but it was fun to see all the cast members from the past 19 seasons. So cute that Rachele from San Francisco and Sean from Boston are married and with four kids plus one on the way! I am sad/embarrassed to admit that I have seen practically every episode of all 19 seasons...can you say OLD loser!! What in the world happened to Eric Niese....remember the first season in New York...he was such a hottie. I can thank my good friend Ann-Marie for my love of this show...she got me hooked on this and 90210. She knows good t.v. when she sees it!! :)
