B.R.A.T

Well, we're on the b.r.a.t diet today. Poor Brody woke up with a fever of about 102.7. His fever has gone up and down throughout the day...never getting quite that high again. We decided to keep him on a bland diet today mixed with lots of liquids. We tried Pedialite but we can't get this kid to drink Pedialite to save our lifes. (I'm not even sure if he needed it but tried it anyways). Any tips from you veteran moms would be appreciated! Thankfully he has decided that he likes applesauce again, so he ate lots of that today along with bananas and a bit of rice. I tried toast this morning but he just put his nose up the air to that one. Hopefully he will be on the mend tomorrow and this was just a one day things. Thankfully, daddy is back home and can stay with him if need be tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
xoxo

I wouldn't worry about BRAT if he isn't vomiting, but the fluids will help with the fever. If he doesn't want to eat, push the fluids. It could just be a virus, but if fever stays for a couple days, I would take him to the dr. Also, fever is always higher at night and I found these cool patches in the kid medicine aisle that you can put on his forehead and they stick. My kids always ask for them when they are sick so my refridgerator always has some in it. You can keep them in there but do not have to. My kids hate Pedialyte too, but sometimes when that is all mommy will give them to drink they are just stuck. Good luck, I hope he feels better soon. Kids bounce back much faster than we do!

I agree with everything Laurie said! If the fever lasts for more than a couple of days, call the doctor. Other than that, lots of fluids! "Mo Juice!" Feel better soon! :-)

Laurie said it all...Cerena didn't mind pedialite too much, but they seem to like Gatorade much better. As long as he's not vomiting, replenishing his electrolytes shouldn't be a top priority, but do make sure he gets enough fluids, otherwise, it can cause dehydration. And yes, fevers always tend to spike in the afternoon. I hope you both feel better soon!
